    Dear Mr Fernando Figueroa:
I work 16 hours per day, and is difficult, but messages like yours give energy for the next 50 hours.
    Warm regards,
    A.R.

  • Fernando Figueroa

    Dear Mr. Rossi:

I am very hopeful that soon become a reality all expectations that there is about cold fusion. Changes in society would be significant and affect us all positively. I congratulate you for taking the initiative in this area, despite all the pressures that exist for these technologies not to arise. Also convey my congratulations to Dr. Focardi and I firmly believe you will be a formidable candidates to get the Nobel Prize for such a tremendous innovation. Hopefully everything goes well. Good luck.

    Best Regards,
    Fernando Figueroa

  • Andrea Rossi

    Dear Alex,
I thank you very much for your suggestion. Actually, you are right, our control panel needed upgrading. The new control systems for our reactors will be designed fro the same Company who designed the control systems of CERN’s Collider: the new control systems will be designed in the context of the R&D program we have with the University of Bologna. But please send me a link to find a presentation of your work, so that I can understand if we can co-operate. I always study with attention the potential partners.
    Warm regards,
    Andrea

    Dear Andrea Rossi,

May I suggest designing very simple custom electronic board to replace five PLC units you are using with every eCat reactor?
My understanding is that such redesign of control circuitry could improve reliability and smoothness of operation of your system.
For details please contact me via E-MAIL alexs.mail2011@gmail.com

    Best regards,
    Alex S.

  • Andrea Rossi

    Dear Mr Mattia Rizzi:
The University of Bologna will publish all the results of the R&D that will be done at the end of the work, which I assume will be in one year from now.
    Warm regards,
    Andrea Rossi

  • Mattia

    Dear Rossi,
the results of the calorimetry test at University of Bologna will be published as soon as possible or in october?

    Thank you.

  • Andrea Rossi

    Dear Alan De Angelis:
Again, thank you for the important information regarding the very interesting interview of Prof. Chu, Nobel Prize and Secretary of the DOE.
I agree with his point of view. I think that Barack Obama is one of the best Presidents of the History of the USA, and the fact that he has chosen Prof. Chu as the Secretary of the DOE is a demo of what I said.
I am honoured to have manufactured my reactors in the USA.
    Warmest Regards,
    Andrea Rossi

  • Andrea Rossi

    Dear Renaissance Man:
Thank you for your kind blessing. I always appreciate it. I need it.
We are now making a R&D work with the University of Bologna. It will last one year, during which we will make throughly tests. The resulta will be published at the end of the research. In the meantime we will start up our plant of 1 MW we have to deliver to our Customer in Greece. After that, our product will be in the market.
    Warm Regards,
    A.R.

  • Andrea Rossi

    Dear Mr Guido Galeotti:
I am working 16 hours per day, together with a tremendous team of extremely good partners.
We’ll do it, do not worry. We are doing it.
    Warm regards,
    A.R.

    Egr. ing. Rossi
in Italia, come forse saprà, si levano da tempo molte voci favorevoli al ritorno all’energia nucleare (da fissione naturalmente)
    http://www3.lastampa.it/politica/sezioni/articolo/lstp/391438/
    cordiali saluti

    Dear Mr Rossi

Thanks for your reply. It is an interesting fatalistic philosophy you have. I hope God will be with you!

After reading some of your answers on this blog, it appears to me that you have an libertarian approach when dealing with criticism; that the market, not scientists will be the judge of your invention. I can respect that, after all the proof of the pudding is in the eating.

This however take me to my next question: what will your next step be? Are we going to see more public testing or are you focused on launching you device on the market? The reason I’m asking is of course that I’m very curious about when we will see more proof that there actually is an pudding.
    All the best

  • Andrea Rossi

    Dear Alan De Angelis:
    Thank you for your information.
    Warm Regards,
    A.R.

  • Alan DeAngelis

    Dear Ing. Rossi:
After watching this video, I’ve become more optimistic about the fate of your invention in the USA.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-7gWsoXtUw

Steven Chu is a real hands-on scientist (not a bureaucrat) at heart. I can’t help but think that he is giving the energy catalizer a lot of thought.

    All the best,

    A.D.

  • Gabriel Leyba

I hope you are right and oil era is finally over.
I also totally understand the secrecy etc., remember Marconi, remember Tesla.

  • Michaela Deutsche

    Dear Ing. Rossi,

I totally agree with the comments of propagare and Mr. Marc Brunner.

Maybe I can give you the real advantage of this proposals:

After you encrypt and upload your papers (to your own website in the download section as well) nobody can ever obviate the release of your invention to the world.

Second, the persons of your trust can save the additional efforts to make your papers “public”.

Last but not least, it is for every person or institution much more easier to release a single pass-phrase to the Internet within such a context.

The hive-mind of the internet community is very strong (i.e. “Anonymous” movement).

If you agree or not agree, and if you will do or if you have done this already, or not, you may should publish this text. 😉

    All the best!
    Michaela Deutsche

  • Andrea Rossi

    Dear “Renaissance Man”:
Yes, I receive blackmails and threats, regularly, but the more I receive, the more I stick on my job. I got the precaution to leave to three persons of my trust all the papers necessary to make the reactors, to allow the respect of all my engagements (also toward the Mankind).
But I want to tell you: during the Pyramids battle, a bomb passed few yards on the side of Napoleon; terrorized, his attendant asked him “what if that bomb caught you?” and he answered: if God wanted that bomb hit me, I could hidden myself in the center of the Earth and still it had hit me”
    Warm Regards,
    A.R.

  • Marc Brunner

    Hi,
i agree with German friend, security is never enough.
    So many good things
    M.B.

  • Renaissance man

    Dear mr.Rossi

I wonder if you have been subject for any blackmail attempt, sabotage or threat during the time you have been working on your invention. I also wonder if you have taken any precautions if something should happen. I really hope that your invention will be a success, if it works you will be a legend.

    Warm regards
    The Renaissance man

  • Dear doctor Rossi,

Please consider a strong asymmetric encryption for your “solution document” (=< 2048 bit) and submit it for distribution to one or all of these whistle-blower sides without the pass-phrase/key as an additional assurance:

    http://Cryptome.org
    http://wikileaks.org
    http://openleaks.org/

Your document will be downloaded and/or distributed from/to everybody interested in BUT can only decrypted if you/someone decide to provide the pass-phrase/key or after decades waiting for more computer power.

Warmest regards from a German friend,
    propagare

  • Andrea Rossi

    Dear Mr Ernie:
As I said before, I am not working to get acclaims and benefits, I already have what I need. All I want is to put this tech at the service of who may need it, but to do this we must defend it, develope it, diffuse it anf this takes investments. As you correctly say, investors need that the manufacturing priorities are defended.
    You got a good point.
    Warm regards,
    A.R.

  • Mr Rossi,I have experience in dealing with investors and stock holders at two companies I once owned. From this experience I can safely say that the blame you are subjected to from many people for witholding information about your work should be directed to your investors who will benefit more than you from the efforts to obtain patent and copyrights for your invention.Your work if verified is so important that you will achieve world wide acclaim and rewards far beyond your needs. The investors will benefit if the rights are cemented in place so courts would have no problem in finding in your favor any claims you may have. I am sure this has been droned into you constantly, maybe even threats from their lawyers. 90% of the blame should be directed to the investors for the delay in information. Good luck and be careful in dealing with both sides of this situation.

  • William

Any update one what those interested in your technology can be doing to support your efforts?

To be blunt, there are many of us who are very interested and would like to be doing more than twiddling our thumbs.

  • Andrea Rossi

    Dear Mr Stefano:
Thank you for your suggestions: they have been forwarded to our informatic engineer, we’ll try to make it simpler.
    Warm regards,
    A.R.

    Dear George Hebbard, PE:
I will be delighted to deal with Henry: sure a person there is to learn from.
    Warm Regards,

About the difficults of writing in this blog , I had some problems because as I looked the site for the first time , it seems like a kind of collection of news , as it is. It is not clear that someome can sign in and it is not clear that you can discuss about issues. As I clicked on several issues , I noticed , at the end of my trip , that it is possible to leave a comment. Not so important but , since I am lazy , I’d like to go fast to the goal.
I thing that using a standard cms engine , like maybe Joomla or nuke or something like that could help, and lots of code is already abailable.

    bye

A recent article concernimg the growth of a potentially antagonistic China produces a suggestion: Henry Krisinger, the great diplotmat, clearly saw and sold to Nizon the concept that cooperation would be more productive for all than an agressive attitude. Whereas the article says that Mr. Kisinger is still able to discuss these issues (“He is worried..”) when you start to develop credibility at large you should assign trusted representatives to contact those you deem as “great thinkers” to form a Board or Community of advisors to aid in directing a technology that could join and help the world or destroy it. International cooperation will be required to encourage the world to use low-cost energy for benefit rather than generating political and military power. A fusion-powered “Rail Gun” is an awesome concept.
I’d start with Henry. He is 87 and would possibly be pleased at your thoughtfulness.

  • Andrea Rossi

    Dear Mr Rick:
Correct, and this explains why the procedure is complicated and takes time.
    Warm regards,
    A.R.

  • Andrea Rossi

    Dear Mr Thion Brocket:
Actually, this is not my goal. We just hope this tech will be useful in al its potential to Mankind.
I already have what I need. The problem is to make financially indipendent our Company, to allow us to develope the technology without depending from conditioning parties. We already are subject to blackmails and threats, and we expect an exponential increase of them while growing up.
    Warm Regards,
    A.R.

  • Andrea Rossi

    Dear Mr Stefano,
Indipendently from the patent issue, which we are following with our Attorney, with patience and in due times, our first industrial plant will enter in operation in October this year.
You write that writing in this blog is a challenge, I am sorry for this: please, kindly explain which obstacles did you find, to help us to give a better service to our Readers.
    Warm Regards,
    A.R.

  • stefano

What about the patent issues ? I am looking forward to see the first prototypes released and people speaking about it.

    regards
    Stefamo

ps: writing in this blog is really a challange

  • Thon Brocket

I hope this discovery / invention will make you richer than Bill Gates

“Thus, the 1971 list indicates that patents for solar photovoltaic generators were subject to review and possible restriction if the photovoltaics were more than 20% efficient. Energy conversion systems were likewise subject to review and possible restriction if they offered conversion efficiencies “in excess of 70-80%.””

Mr. Helmut Hansy Vienna, Austria had earlier some cautionary words to share. I enjoyed.
In these early days I can see you have done much work, and given much thought. Yet I’m sure that even you are without sureness of what is to come of low-cost energy.
In the earliest sections of The World of Ā, a 1948 science fiction novel by A. E. van Vogt, a controlled utopia is described. We are obviously facing some kind of future like that, where Helmut’s primevile concerns are suppresed. But it’s likely to be rough going, and every one will not like the destination. Yet, again, consider how much nickle, catalyst and water would be required to lift the mass to, say, the moon? Perhaps we can excape our future?
In the meantime, in our lifetimes, low-cost energy will mean that we can reverse some of the worst entropy-hogs of our “Tragedy of the Commons” such that waste disposal, high cost and polution-rich food production, and other environmentally destructive habits can be eliminated. One can only hope and pray. God has a plan.

  • Alan DeAngelis

Dear Ing. Rossi and Prof. Focardi:

I’ve been daydreaming about what the energy catalyzer might enable us to do.
We have an asteroid belt filled with nickel and ice water. Perhaps it will enable the human race to build the space colonies with 10,000x the surface area of earth that Gerard O’Neill envisioned http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x9yx7s_island-one-settlements-in-space_tech .

    All the best,

    A.D.

  • Andrea Rossi

    Dear Mr Hans Walchli:
I have forwarded your contact to the department which deals with commercial issues: stsalikoglou@gmail.com
    Warm Regards,
    A.R.

  • Hans Wälchli

Dear Mr. Rossi, I am not scientist, but your technologie is very impressiv. I would like to install such a device in my home for heating and as a demonstration. I would like to distribute your devices in the german speaking marked. I also will built up a service organisation for the mainenance of all installed units.
    Please contact me
    Kind regards Hans Wälchli

  • Andrea Rossi

    Der Mr Allan Kiik:
If the patent will not be granted we will have to conserve the industrial confidentiality, for obvious reasons.
    Thank you for your attention,
    Warm regards,
    A.R.

  • Dear Dr. Rossi,

Congratulations for your great invention, which can change the world so deeply that we can hardly imagine it right now! If true and sustainable, it will eventually end all fights for resources and puts human ingenuity and his hard work in it’s right position as an ultimate resource, just like late Julian Simon saw it.

I think the most important thing now is replication in some other independent labs, just like mr. Svein Utne has proposed, but it looks to me like you are strongly against it, are you and why? You have nothing to lose, nobody can stole your rights, because what counts there is the application date, not the date when patent was granted, and independent replication can actually help you to have your patent granted sooner, don’t you think so?

Please, dr. Rossi, consider allowing the replication and further research of your discovery in other labs, it’s so much more important than the business with your 1MW plant, what you have in your focus now.

  • Andrea Rossi

    Dear Dr Svein Utne:
I thank you very much, but I think that it is correct to let the Patent Office make his job in peace. Patents are not simple, in particular a patent like this. We must let them make their work. To force it could be uncorrect.
It takes time , I must be patient. In the meantime I work on the 1 MW plant: an industrial realization like that will of course help also the patent procedure.
    Warm regards,
    A.R.

The McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology (1992) defines an elementary particle as “A particle that is not a compound of other particles.” By this definition, there are about 500 particles that have been “discovered” in collider experiments. ..

  • Dear Mr. Rossi,
I work in a research company in Norway, and we have a lab that is well equipped for high pressure and high temperature testing, but my boss will not let me start a project trying to duplicate what you are showing before we have more information about the cell.
If this information will be a secret till the patent is approved, I wonder what we can do to help speeding up this process. Will it help if the patent bureau will get a lot of letters from the public pleading them to speed up the process? Is there something we the public can do to help?
Your invention might be what the human race needs to avoid a new depression when the oil price is going sky high.
Here in Norway the temperature has now in several cities been below 20 degrees for many weeks, so just to get hot water to heat the buildings would be very good.
I think a lot of people would like to help getting this technology forward if you just ask for help.
    Regards
    Svein Utne

  • Andrea Rossi

A billion billions muon neutrinos have been fired in December 2009 from CERN of Geneva to the OPERA detector in Italy, to check if it was possible to find one muon neutrino turning into a Tau neutrino: the experiment was successful, the mutation happened. The standard Theory of particle physics would not allow this phenomenon. This is another demo that it is possible that things not allowed from known laws can happen…
    A.R.

  • Andrea Rossi

    Dear Mr Francesco:
1- in a measure, yes, in the proper sites. This is a complex issue. You must understand that the huge investments made cannot be thrown away, in the interest of the same development of the technology.
    2-no
3-We are developing with powerful partners the industrialization.
    Warm Regards,
    A.R.

  • Francesco

    Dear Dr.Rossi,

thank you for your kind and prompt reply.
I have few more questions for you, I hope I’m not bothering you too much.

When the patent will be accepted, will you undisclose all the details about this technology and all your theorical and practical findings?
I hope that it will happen as soon as possible, hopefully long before the plant will be completed.

Do you have more info about the ongoing patenting process?

I appreciate your efforts in completing your project, but we both know you alone can’t create enough devices for everyone.
Will third parties be allowed to exploit the technology and apply any derivative work to their own commercial solutions, as soon as the technical details will be published?

    Thanks and regards
    Francesco

  • Alan DeAngelis

    Dear Ing. Rossi:

In this latest video from Smart Scarecrow they mention (at the 24:00 minute mark) that some helium is being produced in your energy catalyzer.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRO3GYAZ_fs

If this is so, I wonder if it is being formed by the following reaction:

    H(1) + Ni(64) > Co(61) + He(4) 0.66 MeV

    All the best,

    A.D.

p.s. Don’t feel obliged to respond to this if it might put any of your trade secrets in jeopardy

  • Andrea Rossi

    Dear Johan Marklund:
Thank you for your useful suggestion. I will work on it.
The 1 MW unit will be in a private factory, and reasons of safety and security will not allow a free visit. But if you will contact me, I will arrange foe a visit during which you will be accompanied by me. I have to say that we will be under the control of the safety control Authorities, with which we are already working, and surely they will pose a set of operational rules we will have to respect. So, visits will have to be regulated.
But you will visit it, I promise.
    Warm regards,
    A.R.

  • Andrea Rossi

    Dear Francesco,
Thank you very much for your comment.
I think that this energy will be applied initially to produce heat and electric power, which is the easiest way. The other utilizations, theoretically possible, have much more complications to be resolved. Of course, no line of research is closed, but in the short time we will make just heaters and power generators. The research, anyway, will go through all the possible lines of application.
I am working 16 hours per day not to disappoint who believes in this work.
    Stay in touch,
    Warm regards,
    Andrea Rossi

  • Johan Marklund

    Hello Andrea
I want to congratulate to your invention.
I have a question about the design of the reactor.
As I can see on the pictures of the test reactor it is quite large both on length and height. When the reactor will be launched to the public it would be better to have a more compact design due to installation at private homes.
Is it possible for you to instead of one reactor tube use several shorter tubes? This would probably also make the shielding easier. If you think you could make the design more compact, what type of size do you think is possible?

    One more question
The one mega watt installation, will it be a one time demo run or will it be open for public visit (planning my holiday)

    Best regards
    Johan
