Experimental Observations of Nuclear Activity in Deuterated
Materials Subjected to a Low-Energy Photon Beam
Summary
Exposure of highly deuterated materials to a low-energy (nom. 2 MeV) photon beam resulted in nuclear activity
of both the parent metals of hafnium and erbium and a witness material (molybdenum) mixed with the reactants.
Gamma spectral analysis of all deuterated materials, ErD2.8+C36D74+Mo and HfD2+C36D74+Mo, showed that nuclear
processes had occurred as shown by unique gamma signatures. For the deuterated erbium specimens, posttest
gamma spectra showed evidence of radioisotopes of erbium (163Er and 171Er) and of molybdenum (99Mo and 101Mo)
and by beta decay, technetium (99mTc and 101Tc). For the deuterated hafnium specimens, posttest gamma spectra
showed evidence of radioisotopes of hafnium (180mHf and 181Hf) and molybdenum (99Mo and 101Mo), and by beta
decay, technetium (99mTc and 101Tc). In contrast, when either the hydrogenated or non-gas-loaded erbium or hafnium
materials were exposed to the gamma flux, the gamma spectra revealed no new isotopes. Neutron activation
materials showed evidence of thermal and epithermal neutrons. CR–39 solid-state nuclear track detectors showed
evidence of fast neutrons with energies between 1.4 and 2.5 MeV and several instances of triple tracks, indicating
>10 MeV neutrons. Further study is required to determine the mechanism causing the nuclear activity.

Dear Andrea. I suspect that the source of heat from your ecat QX is either in the form of alpha particles or electromagnetic radiation eg x rays. There are several companies that talk about the possibility of cheap/simple direct conversion of both these forms of radiation into electricity. For example proponents of aneutronuc fusion such as “focus fusion”, “tri alpha”, all the companies following from the work of the late Robert Bussard and his polywell fusion device, helion energy. Some of the main selling points of aneutronic fusion is safety ( no neutrons ) and the ease of direct energy conversion thus removing the need for expensive turbines etc. Similarly “unified gravity” who claim to have a small lenr based reactor with lithium and hydrogen also claim to be working on direct conversion of the alpha particles to electricity. My point is that once you have shown that your Ecat QX works as claimed then there seems to be technologies available to convert the products of the reaction directly to electricity. I was surprised to hear it has been decided not to invite representatives of at least a few of the main-stream media to your 24th November presentation. Presumably the presentation’s purpose is to reveal some of your most recent innovations to a wider audience. Many of your fans reading this blog have been surprised and disappointed, given the truly astonishing implications of your discoveries, that they are not being discussed in the news media on a daily basis. (For a start it would be nice to read some good news occasionally, interspersed within the regular torrent of bad news.)

I do agree in your answer to Frank Aucland. As Sigma 5 seems to be the basis for the E-Cat/QuarkX to be presented as a useful product, the demo in the 24th seems more to be your first chance to make a presentation.
